The Women Development Fund (WODEF) joined partners and stakeholders in commemorating the International Day of the Girl Child under the theme, “Ending Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Investing in Girls’ Rights.” The event took place on 11th October at Eker enyo Grounds, bringing together organizations and community actors committed to advancing the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of girls.
The commemoration provided an opportunity to strengthen collective efforts towards ending harmful practices, particularly FGM, while promoting girls’ education, protection, empowerment, and meaningful participation in decision-making. It also highlighted the importance of investing in safe environments, access to essential services, and opportunities that enable every girl to realize her full potential.
WODEF remains committed to working with government institutions, civil society organizations, and community partners to challenge harmful social norms, amplify girls’ voices, and advance gender equality. Together, we can build communities where every girl is protected, empowered, and supported to thrive.
